Vertical surfaces, new dimensions of living

Star KW Maxi and Tech Wall redefine the wall as a design element through large formats, visual continuity and three-dimensional textures.

In contemporary design, the wall is no longer a simple backdrop.. It has become an active surface that defines proportions, interacts with light, introduces visual rhythm and contributes to the material identity of a space.. Cladding a wall is therefore a design choice that shapes the entire environment. Skema embraces this vision with solutions designed not merely to cover vertical surfaces, but to transform them into coordinated architectural elements within a broader design language.

Star KW Maxi: large Format, controlled materiality

Star KW Maxi originates from a reflection on scale. Its SPC panels, measuring 2800 × 950 × 4 mm, allow full-height wall installations while significantly reducing joints and visual interruptions. The result is a seamless surface where the aesthetic quality of the finish can fully express itself, enhancing the perception of space.

Available finishes range from Graniglia Tundra and Calacatta Marble to Carrara, Orobico, as well as the Cotton, Cloud and Cashmere collections. Together they offer mineral-inspired, warm or brighter tones, giving designers extensive compositional freedom while maintaining a consistent material identity. Its water resistance, hygienic properties and ease of cleaning make Star KW Maxi particularly suitable for bathrooms, showers, spas, wellness areas, hotel lobbies and hospitality environments, where durability and low maintenance are essential design requirements.

An additional advantage lies in installation. Star KW Maxi can be applied directly over existing wall coverings, eliminating the need for demolition while reducing installation time and costs. This makes it particularly valuable in renovation projects, especially within the hospitality and horeca sectors. Its reduced thickness and lightweight construction also simplify transport, handling and installation.

Tech Wall: depth, continuity and customisation

Tech Wall explores a different design language. It is a system of three-dimensional slats for walls and ceilings, available in 3040 mm height modules, conceived to create continuous surfaces without visible joints or interruptions. The three available profiles, TW1 (smooth), TW2 (square fluted) and TW3 (rounded fluted), offer different expressions of depth, rhythm and shadow, ranging from the essential elegance of a flat surface to the dynamic character of ribbed textures. The MDF core enhances the material appearance and precision of the relief, while ensuring the construction quality required for complex projects and large-scale applications.

The possibility of cladding both walls and ceilings with the same decorative finish creates true visual continuity, achieving a striking total-look effect. In residential interiors this results in a cohesive material envelope; in contract applications, including hotels, restaurants, retail spaces and public buildings, it enables the creation of a distinctive, consistent and easily replicable design identity.

Safety represents one of the system’s most significant strengths. Tech Wall achieves a B-s2,d0 fire reaction classification, a particularly important result for an MDF fluted wall cladding. This level of performance remains uncommon within the three-dimensional panel market and becomes a decisive advantage in projects where aesthetics, surface continuity and technical performance must coexist.

Its fire performance, healthy indoor characteristics, PEFC forest certification and compliance with CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria) further strengthen its suitability for both residential and hospitality projects. For this reason, Tech Wall naturally fits hotels, public buildings, schools and all environments where material selection must satisfy not only aesthetic expectations but also strict requirements for safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

Design as a system

Star KW Maxi and Tech Wall do not overlap. They answer different design needs. The former focuses on large-format panels, marble-inspired aesthetics, renovation practicality and applications in wet or already finished environments. The latter explores three-dimensionality, continuity between walls and ceilings, and the expressive potential of large surfaces. What unites them is the same design philosophy: treating the wall as an architectural surface with the same importance traditionally reserved for flooring.

This is the approach that defines Skema’s research. Floors, walls and ceilings are not separate categories, but components of a single design language. When this coherence is achieved, the perceived quality of a space changes, not because of an individual product, but because every surface has been conceived as part of an integrated system.
